Personal Saliva Hormone
Before taking any hormone supplements, you should know your correct hormone levels...
Although estrogen dominance and low progesterone levels are clearly evident in symptoms like PMS, weight gain, migraines, fibroids, depression and the like, a saliva test will confirm and pinpoint your personal condition.
The Healthy Hormone Personal Saliva Hormone can profile your baseline level(s) before starting a hormone supplementation program and help you monitor its progress. Our convenient saliva test kits (found by the World Health Organization to be more precise and reliable than blood tests) can be used to accurately test levels of Progesterone, Estradiol, Estriol, DHEA, Cortisol, Androstenedione and Testosterone.
The test kit Includes an easy-to-use home profile kit information booklet, and a pre-paid mailing tube for saliva sample. Results are mailed directly to you or to your medical practitioner with full explanation of results and their meaning. Who conducts the saliva profile? Test assays are under the direction of Dr. David Zava, Ph.D., a leading biochemist and medical researcher in the fields of breast cancer, hormones and saliva testing. Dr. Zava has been instrumental in developing state-of-the-art saliva hormone testing procedures.
The Healthy Hormones Saliva test method is the accurate testing method available as it is most representative in measuring the hormones circulating in the body that are available to the tissues they act on. Why test saliva instead of blood? Dr. Zava explains: "Because steroid hormones (estrogens and progesterone among them) play such a vital role in maintenance of health, knowledge of an imbalance in any one or more hormones can help illuminate the cause of health problems and provide a rational basis for correcting the imbalance through diet, exercise, or hormone supplementation."
Our Saliva Test kit is easy to use. The test kit includes the supplies and information you need to collect your saliva sample in the privacy of your home. You select which hormones you wish to be profiled, then simply place the sample into the enclosed pre-paid mailer. The results are mailed back to you within 7-10 working days. Your profile results are presented numerically and also show the normal levels of the hormones you chose to have profiled. If needed, fuller explanation and significance of your test profile can be answered, free of cost, by calling the laboratory directly as outlined in the response forms.
Dr Zava's clinical work and experience shows that levels of steroid hormones in blood and saliva are not the same. "When various glands manufacture and release hormones into the bloodstream they are bound to carrier proteins. Only a small fraction (1-5%) of a given amount of steroid hormone breaks loose from the carrier protein in the bloodstream and is free to enter target tissues. This free or unbound hormone is what we want to measure, since it is active or bioavailable to the target tissues such as the breast, uterus, brain, and skin. Many studies in the scientific literature have shown that there is a strong correlation between the levels of hormones in saliva and the bioavailable (free) levels of steroids in the bloodstream. The amount of steroid hormone that enters the salivary ducts and then saliva, is representative of the fraction of steroids in the bloodstream that are bioavailable to other tissues in the body."
Often blood tests provide falsely low levels of a hormone in question resulting in high dosage prescription of synthetic HRT drugs that may lead to more severe health problems. Dr. Zava points out that, "Saliva is not only more accurate and reliable, it is easy, can be done anywhere, any time and at a much lower cost. Serum hormone blood testing is stressful, which can alter the results.. Blood tests are costly, require a doctor's office visit and are often obtained at non-representational bio-clock times."
Dr. Zava reports: "Hormones in saliva are exceptionally stable, allowing wide latitude in collection and shipment. Samples can be stored at room temperature for at least a week without loss of activity, so samples can be shipped to the testing facility by regular mail. Blood, on the other hand, must be kept cool on ice packs, increasing costs for shipping as well as the likelihood of error due to improper handling....saliva hormone testing allows you to take more control over your own health helping you to gain insight into health problems before you see your doctor".
